Role Overview Design Engineers prepare suitable, cost‑effective severe service component designs by performing the essential duties listed below.
Work Environment On‑site in Lake Forest, CA
Key Responsibilities Responsible for the design of severe service components to customer specifications and internal design standards
Responsible for the selection of appropriate hardware for particular applications
Prepare and check detailed drawings and bills of materials and release valve design packages to manufacturing/assembly
Responsible for reviewing customer design specifications and assuring compliance
Maintain valve project document files
Prepare or revise valve drawings as required
Compile and write buyout specifications
Provide technical support and clarifications to customers, vendors, manufacturing, assembly, and test personnel
Write test procedures to meet customer contract requirements
Work to internal deadlines for Engineering deliverables
Critical Competencies for Success Working knowledge of MS Office and CAD software (ACAD, SolidWorks preferred)
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of mechanical design and stress analysis
Manufacturing drawing comprehension
Basic knowledge of properties of gas and liquids – thermodynamics
Basic knowledge in principles of flow and fluid statics and dynamics
Basic knowledge of properties of engineering materials preferred
Basic knowledge of metal removal processes, heat treating, plating, welding, and coating technology preferred
B.A./B.S. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
2‑5 years in mechanical product design role preferred
EIT, PE preferred
Pay range $80,000–$97,000 annually. Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
Bonus eligibility This position is also eligible for a variable incentive pay component, separate from base salary.
