About the Role
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 industrial gas manufacturer, is seeking an expert Maintenance Technician for our Baytown, TX facility. This role is responsible for all mechanical maintenance activities across the Baytown Area facilities, including Baytown 2 ASU and ROG, Baytown 3 HYCO, Conroe HPN, Enterprise, CP Chem, and HOUGOX. The position reports to the Baytown Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities
Promote and participate in plant safety and environmental compliance programs
Contribute positively to the team; maintain accountability and provide mentoring/coaching
Supervise inspection, repair, installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of mechanical equipment such as centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, cryogenic pumps, gear drives, steam turbines, vessels, heat exchangers, centrifugal expanders
Prepare technical reports and document equipment data in SAP
Develop and execute component refurbishment and repair plans per engineering mentorship
Support minor and major shutdown planning and execution with hands‑on technical support
Acquire qualification as an Air Products crane lift supervisor (rigging/flagging)
Support and improve the mechanical integrity program
Assist with maintenance planning and scheduling
Operate forklifts, manlifts, and overhead cranes (training provided)
Lead contractor crafts as needed
Support and help facilitate site safety meetings
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum five (5) years’ experience with maintenance, start‑up, and commissioning of industrial rotating machinery
Supervisory experience preferred
Strong safety focus with basic digital literacy
Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance tools (e.g., infrared thermography, vibration analysis)
Skilled in precision measurements and rebuilding/maintaining rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, blowers, etc.)
Ability to troubleshoot using equipment documentation and SAP (work notifications/work orders)
Willing to participate in on‑call rotation and work overtime
Team‑oriented, flexible, and well organized
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
This is a safety‑sensitive position
Physical Requirements
Work in an industrial environment, including climbing ladders/steps, working at heights, using scaffolding and manlifts, and wearing required PPE (e.g., full‑body harness)
Ability to wear supplied‑air and air‑purifying respiratory protection
Confined space entry
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
