Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Phantom Works Division – Experienced Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer
Location: Hazelwood, MO

Position Responsibilities:

Support the development and documentation of mechanical, fluid system, and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design.

Support the development, maintenance, or modification of system, component, and installation designs/proposals to provide documentation to downstream groups.

Perform and document system performance using computational analysis tools to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

Perform detailed design development and modification of mechanical and fluid system installations.

Contribute to supplier development, testing, and production activities; direct suppliers to optimize integration and achieve program goals.

Prepare technical documents for mechanical components and systems.

Support system component design/proposal standards to provide installation and detail documentation.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical, or Materials Sciences).

Five or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Secondary Power, Aircraft‑Mounted Accessory Drive (AMAD) gearbox, Auxiliary Power System (APS), Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), Air Turbine Starter (ATS), or Fire Protection development and qualification.

Experience developing mechanical system architecture.

Ability to write component and subsystem specifications and statements of work.

Technical oversight of suppliers developing mechanical or electro‑mechanical systems hardware.

Experience leading integration and test planning efforts of complex mechanical or electro‑mechanical subsystems.

Other Requirements

Successful candidates must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.

Export Control: U.S. Person required; U.S. Citizen, National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance with US Citizenship; interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post‑start required.

Shift: 1st shift.

Relocation: Offered based on candidate eligibility.
