Job Description
SUMMARY

Assesses and meets information needs of students and faculty and develops programs to stimulate student interest by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Selects, receives, and organizes books, multimedia, and other materials and equipment.

Suggests appropriate books and multimedia to students for classroom assignments and personal access.

Assists students and faculty with use of public access catalog.

Assists students and faculty with online searches and research projects.

Plans and carries out student instruction program for school library media center.

Prepares and administers budget for media center.

Confers with faculty about provision of appropriate materials for classroom instruction.

Confers with parents, faculty, public librarians, and community organizations to develop programs to enrich student communication skills.

Investigates technologies that will improve services.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Baccalaureate Degree

Collegiate Professional Teaching Certificate

Teaching endorsement required for assignment.

Average grade made in college shall be a C or higher.

Average grade made in teaching major shall be a B or higher.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
