POSITION SUMMARY
The Installation Technician is responsible for the installation, documentation, and basic commissioning of audio, video, and lighting (AVL) systems. This role ensures that all assigned installation tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with project documentation and company standards. This position requires a self‑driven individual who takes ownership of their work, actively seeks opportunities to improve their skills, and contributes to overall project success without waiting for direction. Success in this role comes from a combination of technical execution, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving and personal development.
REPORTS TO
Operations Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Install AVL systems including displays, projectors, audio systems, lighting, control components, and related infrastructure
Pull, terminate, and label cabling according to project documentation
Load and wire equipment racks including cable dressing, lacing, termination, and labeling
Read and interpret architectural, electrical, and low‑voltage drawings in digital format
Utilize company‑provided iPad to access drawings, complete assigned tasks, and track progress
Maintain accurate daily redlines to reflect field changes and installation progress
Verify system installation quality to confirm functionality and perform basic troubleshooting as needed
Communicate daily progress, completed work, and issues to the Project Manager
Assist with project prep in the warehouse, including pulling equipment, verifying materials, checking functionality, and ensuring readiness for efficient installation on site
Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
Properly use and maintain company tools and equipment
Support shop organization and upkeep as needed
Perform other duties as assigned

Installation work is completed accurately and aligns with project drawings and company standards
Daily tasks are completed without the need for constant direction or follow‑up
Redlines and digital documentation are consistently accurate and up to date
Issues, discrepancies, or missing information are proactively identified and communicated
Minimal rework or punch list items due to installation errors
Job sites are consistently clean, organized, and professional
Actively seeks to improve skills, learn new systems, and take on additional responsibility over time
Takes ownership of work, outcomes, and personal development without waiting for direction
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial AVL installation
Experience with structured cabling, terminations, and equipment installation
Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and low‑voltage drawings
Familiarity with audio, video, lighting, and control systems
General understanding of low‑voltage and basic electrical concepts
Basic construction knowledge
Strong attention to detail and quality of work
Self‑motivated with a high level of personal accountability
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
Clear and consistent communication
Comfortable working in a digital‑first environment (iPad‑based workflows)
Industry certifications such as CTS, ETCP, Q‑SYS, or similar are considered a strong plus
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined or elevated spaces
Physical stamina to work in construction environments
Valid driver’s license
Willingness and ability to travel for installations (domestic and occasional international)
