The Senior Manager of the Card Controllers Delivery Team will focus on translating Capital One’s top card finance initiatives from strategy into transformation. They oversee programs that are often outsized in nature and cross‑functional, spanning across lines of business and horizontal teams. They also are integral in developing an understanding of team capacity to analyze and prioritize initiatives in line with business expectations. An ideal candidate will demonstrate independence in solving complex problems and be seen as a trusted advisor who helps influence strategy development and execution. Associates will be expected to distill big picture intent, articulate the strategy into tactical requirements and implementation plans, and communicate results to senior leadership.
Responsibilities:
Lead and motivate a team of Project Managers, providing direction, feedback, and support to foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
Evaluate and refine project management processes, tools, and methodologies for greater efficiency.
Work autonomously on large and small scale projects that have a direct impact on Card Controllers, ensuring scope of deliverables, timelines and budgets are met while maintaining project plans and critical documentation.
Show a willingness to learn and an intellectual curiosity to better understand Card Controllers business processes to identify areas to streamline or improve business processes.
Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously using strong time‑management and prioritization skills, ensuring interdependencies are managed effectively.
Use project learnings and data to refine and project level of effort, cost, and team capacity for future projects.
Create and deliver presentations to senior management to manage expectations proactively, bring transparency to project status, and to communicate risks and trade‑offs. Guide and influence senior management discussions and decisions.
Ensure projects are documented appropriately to mitigate risk and to be delivered on time.
Build relationships and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across all levels to understand business problems, ensure accountability and focus on bringing issues to resolution, and ensure delivery of commitments.
Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive project / program efforts.
Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment.
Have excellent communication and partnership skills essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience.
At least 7 years of experience in Project Management or Program Management or Process Management or a combination.
At least 1 year of experience in People Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License.
5+ years of experience leading large scale and complex transformations.
2+ years of experience in People Management.
2+ years of experience in Financial Services or Banking industry.
Certification in Agile, PMP, Change Management, Lean, or Six Sigma.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Strong problem solving and influencing skills.
Experience presenting to executive leadership.

This role is hybrid, meaning associates spend 3 days per week in‑person at one of our offices listed on this job posting. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are options for in‑person days for associates to spend time together working in our beautifully‑designed team areas.
Locations & Salary Ranges:
McLean, VA: $177,700 – $202,800 for Sr Manager, Project Management.
Richmond, VA: $161,500 – $184,300 for Sr Manager, Project Management.
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non‑discretionary depending on the plan.
