Must have a bachelor's degree in accounting, 8+ years of progressive hands‑on insurance accounting and financial reporting experience, strong Excel skills, leadership experience, and ability to work onsite in Alexandria 3 days per week. CPA and Life & Health Insurance accounting experience across SAP and GAAP are strongly preferred.

Job Description
Lead monthly and quarterly close activities with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and strong financial controls
Support and oversee insurance accounting and financial reporting across SAP and GAAP
Prepare, review, and strengthen regulatory reporting, Blue Book reporting, and audited financial statements
Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide insights to support decision-making
Partner closely with finance and cross-functional teams to ensure reporting accuracy and deadline compliance
Help improve processes, reporting workflows, and overall efficiency within the accounting function
Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff while helping elevate team performance
Utilize advanced Excel reporting and support work tied to INFOR General Ledger and Prophix reporting tools
Assist with special projects, reporting enhancements, and ongoing accounting initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
8+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience required
Strong insurance accounting background required
Leadership experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff required
Advanced Excel skills required, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and SUMIF
Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and deadline-driven accounting operations
CPA strongly preferred
Life & Health Insurance accounting experience strongly preferred
SAP and GAAP insurance accounting experience strongly preferred
Experience with Blue Book reporting, audited financial statements, INFOR General Ledger, and Prophix strongly preferred
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills required
