We are looking for a
REFERRAL CLERK
for a full‑time, civil contract at Kirtland AFB, NM. Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Summary
This position provides clerical and administrative support in the Referral Management Center for customer service, referral tracking, referral appointment, and reporting activities. It will support the daily functions of specialty care referral appointment, referral review and coordination, beneficiary counseling, and referral tracking at the MTF.
Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors, answer and direct phone calls, and schedule medical appointments.
Review referrals for completeness, verify patient eligibility and covered benefits, and ensure patients have the necessary documentation.
Manage and retrieve medical records, track referral results, and return documentation to providers within required timelines.
Support patient travel arrangements and reimbursement processing, compile monthly referral metrics reports.
Provide training to staff on referral processes and timelines.
Perform other routine clerical tasks as required.
Qualifications
High school or GED diploma.
At least six months of experience in medical office scheduling.
General office administrative and clerical skills for receptionist duties and answering telephones.
Ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM on a computer keyboard.
Familiarity with office equipment such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephone systems.
Desired knowledge of any of the following systems: AHLTA, CHCS and/or MHS GENESIS, other MTF ICDB programs.
Ability to speak and communicate clearly in English.
Excellent customer service and adaptability.
General medical ethics and telephone etiquette.
Ability to follow instructions and procedures in detail.
Additional Information
Work is mainly sedentary but may require walking, bending, standing, and carrying of light items such as files.
Must be able to pass a U.S. government security investigation and a thorough job verification.
