We are looking for a reliable, service-focused
Meat Clerk
to join our team at Hen House. In this role, you'll support the daily operations of the meat department—ensuring products are fresh, well-stocked, and properly presented while helping guests find the right cuts and solutions for their needs.

Key Responsibilities & Job Duties
Provide friendly, helpful, and respectful guest service at all times to ensure a positive shopping experience and encourage repeat visits
Package and label meat products accurately in compliance with weight, pricing, and regulatory guidelines
Assist guests with product selection, custom cuts (as applicable), and cooking recommendations
Stock, rotate, and face products using FIFO methods to maintain freshness, minimize waste, and ensure an appealing presentation
Monitor product dates, storage conditions, and temperature logs to maintain quality and reduce shrink
Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked service cases and displays
Ensure proper handling, storage, and temperature control of all meat products
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards
Operate equipment such as scales, wrappers, scanners, and basic cutting tools safely and accurately
Develop and maintain knowledge of meat products, pricing, and promotions to better assist guests and drive sales
Monitor inventory levels and communicate low, excess, or damaged items to department leadership to support product availability
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in both sales floor and backroom areas
Communicate clearly and respectfully with teammates, leadership, and vendors to support efficient operationsCollaborate across departments to support overall store performance and guest satisfaction
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including attendance, conduct, and dress code standards
Remain productive during slower periods by cleaning, organizing, restocking, or supporting other departments
Other job duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
Required: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred: Experience in grocery, retail, food service, or meat/seafood departments
Preferred: Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Preferred: Experience with meat cutting, knife handling, or meat/seafood preparation
Preferred: Ability to provide recommendations on cuts, preparation, and cooking methods
