Your Role & Responsibilities
We are looking for a new team member to take ownership of our core accounting functions, under the supervision of our Controller. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Managing daily cash balances and bank reconciliations.
Producing monthly financial statements – including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Partner with HR to prepare and process biweekly payroll. Review payroll reports and coordinate journal entries for proper expense recognition and departmental allocations.
Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage requirements.
General ledger analysis, month-end close, accruals, adjusting entries, and management of fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
Act as a backup for Accounts Receivable.
Required Experience & Skills
A minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience.
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance or Business), with demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles through coursework, OR relevant experience.
A strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Direct experience with the architecture, engineering, or construction industry is highly valued.
Demonstrated experience in project accounting with a focus on progress billing, work-in-progress (WIP), and revenue recognition in an AEC consulting firm.
Strong proficiency with Ajera software is a significant plus.
GL experience – GL analysis, month-end close, accruals and adjusting entries.
Prevailing Wage reporting experience is a significant plus.
Familiarity with Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP) is a plus.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Estimated annual salary range: $70,000 - $85,000 based on experience and ability, with an annual bonus based on firm profitability.
