Job Summary
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Crater, you have an important role in meeting customer expectations in quality and on time delivery.
Responsibilities
Safety: Follow all safety rules and adhere to core values of the business. Maintain a clean, orderly work area. Report repairs and/or issues to team lead or supervisor.
Material Management: Accurately build custom wood crates and package product per work order specifications. Prepare finished goods for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product. Transport materials and finished product to the appropriate work area using hand trucks, forklifts, and other mechanical devices. Perform preventative maintenance on foam machine and other equipment as needed. Maintain material‑handling equipment by completing pre‑use inspections and making operator repairs.
Quality: Review orders for quality and accuracy. Confirm documents, shipping details or special instructions are complete and accurate. Follow processes for expedited shipments affecting the production schedule.
Culture: Desire to do the right thing. Team player, assisting other team members and departments as needed with other duties not routine to position. Punctual, on time, ready to work every day.
Required Experience
1 year experience in construction, shipping, or manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to use/read tape measurements to 1/8 inch.
Strong math skills.
Comfortable with hand tools, pneumatic air tools, and overhead cranes.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Able to communicate verbally and in writing.
Attention to detail.
Process improvement mindset.
Puts safety first.
Excellent attendance.
Education & Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Travel & Working Environment
Lifting to 50 pounds with assistance.
Sitting, standing, walking, bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, twisting, reaching, and working at heights.
Perform repetitive motions.
Plant environment with potential exposure to bad weather, excessive heat/cold, and/or excessive noise.
