Position Summary – Pump Design Engineer
We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department, specifically supporting the IMO 3-Screw Pump product line. Working directly with the Principal Design Engineer, you will play a key role in sustaining engineering and Engineered-to-Order (ETO) initiatives, while providing technical support for New Product Development (NPD) projects.
Principal Activities
Interface with customers, sales, and applications teams to translate commercial specifications into viable technical designs and Engineered-to-Order (ETO) solutions.
Utilize CAD and MRP platforms to manage design data, ensuring high-fidelity BOM accuracy and streamlined order execution from concept to production.
Execute design improvements and revisions for existing product lines while leveraging analytical tools to drive the development of New Product Developments (NPD).
Develop 3D geometries and perform FEA and CFD simulations to validate structural integrity and fluid flow performance against design requirements.
Produce detailed engineering packages including manufacturing drawings, assembly work instructions, and test specifications to support custom order fulfillment.
Perform rigorous tolerance stack-up analyses and implement GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to ensure part interchangeability and manufacturing repeatability.
Execute iterative design cycles for new concepts, producing formal verification reports and validation plans to confirm performance against internal and regulatory benchmarks.
Contribute to the creation of internal engineering standards, design methodologies, and formalized "lessons learned" to institutionalize technical knowledge.
Develop comprehensive technical literature, including Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manuals and visual assembly aids for end-user support.
Candidate Requirements
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of SolidWorks tools or equivalent
Working knowledge of IFS (MRP/ERP system) or equivalent.
Experience with BOM structuring and modification
Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T
Working knowledge in Engineering Change Request/Order/Notice
Ability to work on cross-functional teams in the context of complex technical projects.
Ability to serve as a project or team leader when required by the task or situation, while promoting appropriate positive influence and consensus building skills.
Ability to create and present design, testing and other technical reports.
Working knowledge of Lean as applied to both Engineering and Manufacturing processes such as: Six Sigma, Kaizen, DFMEA, PPAP, VA/VE
Lean 6 sigma certification is a plus.
Knowledge of foundry, machine shop and fabrication practices
Ability to travel (10% Domestic & International).
Education & Experience
B.S. Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.
3-7 years of Engineering experience on industrial equipment (ideally fluids related).
