Job Description
The candidate will work with the Specialty Analytics department within the Enterprise Risk Management team to support all divisions of C&F with identifying, quantifying and managing their risks. The role will be responsible for continued development of ERM frameworks, including aggregation management, underwriting audits, and exception reporting, to ensure a consistent and thoughtful approach to risk vs. reward across the almost $6 billion of annual gross written premium at C&F.

What you will do:

Identify, quantify, and manage risks to the organization; engage with a variety of specialist teams and senior leadership to develop and implement risk management strategies

Form partnerships and collaborate with business units to help develop and implement risk management frameworks and controls

Build out exception reporting capabilities, including automating where possible; Validate new exception reports as more are developed

Support underwriting audit functions throughout the group

Assist in setting corporate tolerances around aggregations of exposures; monitor reporting of these metrics to ensure corporate tolerances are not breached

Develop knowledge of C&F’s various business units and products

Keep up to date with developing trends and emerging risks; evaluate the potential impact of these risks to the organization

What you will bring to C&F:

Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management/Insurance, Mathematics, Finance or related field or equivalent experiences

6+ years of commercial insurance experience required; Some underwriting experience preferred but not required

Strong analytical, technical, and problem‑solving skills

Strong communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with others

Highly proficient in Excel; Knowledge of SQL desired, but not necessary

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $100,000.00 to a maximum of $160,000.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance‑based variable pay programs.
