Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. This role reports to a senior manager and leads business development activities for products and services. The position oversees the development and execution of both short- and long-term objectives, working closely with executive leadership to implement strategic initiatives. It designs and leads the implementation of strategic plans, serves as a liaison with internal GA‑ASI and affiliate organizations, and achieves objectives through engagement with U.S. Army leadership and other key stakeholders. The role also represents the organization with customers, potential clients, and business partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee all phases of strategic development activities to ensure business and financial objectives are attained from development of strategic communication plan through competitive selection process.
Create and manage the development of new strategic business opportunities and expansion of existing business opportunities assessing Army needs and capability gaps, developing and communicating a viable campaign/capture plan.
Obtain, coordinate and participate meetings with Army leadership.
Develop executive level written, verbal and visual strategic communication products that advantage GAASI initiatives and meet identified Army capability gaps.
Identify potential new mission space and markets, determine the feasibility of successful opportunity capture through engagement with engineering, marketing, legislative affairs and profit and loss teams.
Continually adapt engagements and messaging with clients as Army leadership or responsibilities change to assess potential competitive activity or shifting customer needs.
Rapidly master complex technical concepts and form into competitive advantages.
Act as the primary contact, coordinating with executive leadership, marketing and communication teams to develop messaging for major marketing events and demonstrations including Army trade shows, forums and symposiums.
Leverage strong interpersonal skills to shape government and industry to recognize and accept GA-ASI offered capabilities or products.
Identify messaging gaps and issues and provide leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying engagement or communication themes or strategies.
Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Other duties as assigned or required.
Job Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters in business administration or a related field and thirteen or more years of progressively complex experience in business development; may substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must demonstrate a detailed and extensive expertise and application of business development principles and concepts, and practice as well as comprehensive project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
Must possess the ability to resolve unusually complex problems; serve as spokesperson on projects; and be an expert in one or more areas of business development.
Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
