About The Role

Youth Opportunity Investments is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Shift Supervisor to join our team at Crestview Youth Academy. This role is responsible for overseeing facility operations and supervising direct care staff during the assigned shift. The Residential Shift Supervisor helps maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for youth while ensuring compliance with agency expectations, facility procedures, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise assigned personnel during the shift, including assigning duties, monitoring performance, providing coaching, training, corrective instruction, and support as needed
Maintain communication with leadership regarding attendance issues, staff performance concerns, conduct issues, and team dynamics
Assist with scheduling and shift coverage to help ensure all functional areas of the facility are properly staffed
Support youth appointments, transportation, and intake/discharge procedures as needed
Receive and release youth personal property and assist with searches for contraband or prohibited items when required
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure continuity of care and communication regarding youth needs and behavior
Ensure compliance with state rules, facility procedures, and safety and security expectations
Conduct security checks, room searches, and contraband searches as required
Monitor security systems, electronic door locks, communication devices, youth activities, and visitation areas
Support implementation of the behavior management system, including reviewing disciplinary actions, grievances, and incident-related concerns
Review and investigate reports involving restraint, force, confinement, or other serious incidents as required
Administer medication and maintain accurate medication documentation for youth
Conduct regular inspections of housing units, identify concerns, and take corrective action as appropriate
Maintain records and prepare reports related to security, maintenance, staffing, and youth behavior
Assist with staff training and development activities as requested
Respond to emergencies and help coordinate youth and staff response during situations such as severe weather, fire, or other crisis events
Other Duties Include

Maintain a high standard of professional role model behavior for youth
Participate in required training and professional development activities
Report any acts, incidents, or conditions suggesting inappropriate youth-to-youth or staff-to-youth relationships
Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents in accordance with YOI and customer agency guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned or needed
Qualifications

High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
Minimum of three years of experience working with children with serious emotional disturbances or substance abuse issues in a residential setting required
Prior supervisory experience in a related setting preferred
Working knowledge of and ability to assist in assessing youth related to chemical dependency, substance abuse, and physical, sexual, and emotional abuse
Possession of or ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification
Ability to effectively supervise, direct, and appropriately interact with youth
Ability to handle sensitive situations professionally and diplomatically
Strong verbal and written communication skills with co-workers, stakeholders, probation officers, caseworkers, law enforcement, court personnel, youth, and the public
Ability to work effectively with sensitivity to ethics, gender, cultural diversity, and disabilities
Physical Demands

Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable
Able to actively engage with youth, participate in physical interventions, and transport youth or staff as needed
Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state
Must pass evaluation of physical techniques and certification exams.
Other Requirements

Must maintain a valid state driver’s license and safe driving record
Must meet all required state and local criminal background screening requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be able to work occasional extended, evening, and weekend hours as needed
