What to Expect
As a Maintenance Technician on the Reliability Engineering team, you will bridge the gap between cross‑functional teams including engineering, maintenance, and vendors to maintain and improve equipment reliability. You will support design and development efforts by drafting in SolidWorks, conducting equipment trials per Tesla PCA standard procedures, fabricating and testing prototype parts, and meticulously tracking trial data. This role requires a strong blend of technical ability, mechanical knowledge, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail to ensure projects meet specifications, timelines, and Tesla standards while minimizing downtime.
You will work directly with Reliability Engineers to execute reliability centered activities including root cause analysis, data driven improvements, PM development, documentation, and training.
What You’ll Do
Design and draft tools, mechanical components, and systems using SolidWorks and eDrawings; contribute to prototyping and design modifications
Conduct equipment trials following Tesla PCA standard procedures; track trial details, results, materials, and design changes
Operate fabrication equipment including CNC, Waterjet, 3D printers, welding tools, mills, and lathes to build or modify prototype parts
Perform day‑to‑day data collection, condition monitoring, and predictive maintenance using dashboards and sensors; develop reports and deliver presentations to the team
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics
Diagnose equipment failures, lead root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone Diagrams, Pareto Charts), and collaborate with Reliability Engineers to update Equipment FMEAs
Support PM development, execution, and training under RCM strategies directed by Reliability and Equipment Engineering
What You’ll Bring
3+ years of experience maintaining industrial equipment, automation, or as an industrial maintenance technician (technical military experience or equivalent acceptable)
Proficient in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks and eDrawings
Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of materials, fluid mechanics fundamentals, blueprints, schematics, and mechanical testing equipment voltmeter, potentiometer, pressure gauges
Familiarity with CMMS systems (FLUX or similar); ability to navigate, maintain data integrity, and support spare parts mapping
Advanced skills across Microsoft 365 apps Excel & power point and experience creating/managing content in Confluence
Essential Physical Demands
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
