Tooling Design Engineer

PURPOSE Design molds and tooling required for the manufacture of custom or proprietary injection molded products. Provide support for rebuild projects including but not limited to reverse engineering and corrected drawings and specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Use caution and support systems to assure a safety event free facility.

Respond to any emergency or potential emergency following established procedures.

Observe, respond and report any instance of product, service, or quality systems non-conformity.

Security diligence, including maintaining control of key cards, preventing unauthorized entry to Amcor facilities by non-Amcor employees, and proper maintenance / security of Berry equipment and information.

Successfully complete Primary Duties as outlined in 4.0 and associated training.

AUTHORITIES
Pause activities and notify Safety lead in any facility regarding instances of potentially unsafe work environments or employee and supplier practices.

Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product, service or quality systems.

Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.

Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems and verify the implementation of solutions.

PRIMARY DUTIES
Conceive and develop new plastic injection mold designs for prototype and production manufacturing.

Update and maintain existing and inherited mold designs.

Consult with Application Development Engineers (PD) on potential new projects or modifications to existing product designs.

Consult with Plant Managers and Tooling Managers on mold design criteria specific to individual plants.

Update and modify new and existing product designs for improved manufacturability.

Generate 3D Cad models of piece parts, mold components and other necessary tooling.

Provide and maintain revisions of mold and tool design drawings.

Provide Bill of Materials for new mold construction.

Provide and maintain revisions of piece part detail and customer drawings.

Communicate with outside vendors on matters pertaining to new mold construction and updates to existing molds.

Develop part shrinkage models and drawings to establish mold steel geometry.

Evaluate prototype and production parts and make modifications to tooling, as necessary.

Assist during the start-up of new production tooling.

Perform necessary follow-up measures with plants to ensure their satisfaction.

Perform duties in adherence to applicable ISO standards.

Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental, and disciplinary standards.
