About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented
GIS Technician I
to support mapping and data quality initiatives for utility and land-based infrastructure. In this role, you’ll work with advanced GIS tools to ensure accuracy, maintain data integrity, and support field operations with high-quality geographic information.

Key Responsibilities
Perform quality control checks on GIS data, maps, and facility information
Update and maintain geographic data using GIS/editor tools
Review and reconcile source documents with mapped data and field updates
Close and track backlog work orders, ensuring accurate mapping updates
Support conversion of legacy data into automated GIS systems
Maintain and update switch diagrams, maps, and related documentation
Ensure cartographic standards and mapping accuracy are consistently met
Collaborate with field teams to validate and update infrastructure data
Perform ongoing data maintenance for utility and land base systems
Assist with map plotting and preparation for field use
Required Qualifications
2+ years of technical training or equivalent experience in utility engineering or related field
4+ years of experience in utility construction, engineering, or mapping
Valid driver’s license
Ability to meet applicable safety and compliance standards
Preferred Skills & Experience
Familiarity with GIS tools or willingness to learn (e.g., ArcFM, ADMS, Maximo)
Understanding of electric, gas, water, or landbase systems
Knowledge of construction standards and work request processes
Strong cartographic and data accuracy skills
Ability to interpret maps, diagrams, and technical documents
Good communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
