A cutting-edge robotics and AI organization is seeking a Senior Robotics Data Engineer to support next-generation autonomous manufacturing systems. This onsite contract role is based in the Detroit, MI area and focuses on building scalable data infrastructure that powers robotic perception, grasping, and manipulation models. You’ll work with large, complex datasets coming from both physical robots and advanced simulation environments, enabling real-world AI deployment at scale.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning the full data lifecycle behind intelligent systems. You won’t just maintain pipelines – you’ll help define how robotic data is captured, labeled, versioned, and validated for production AI. The work directly influences how robots learn and adapt across thousands of real manufacturing scenarios, offering deep technical growth and meaningful impact.

Contract Duration: 12+ Months

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in data engineering, ML systems, robotics, or related fields

Strong Python experience building production-grade data pipelines

Hands‑on experience with large‑scale, multimodal datasets (vision, depth, sensor data)

Experience supporting ML or AI workflows in real‑world environments

Ability to collaborate across robotics, perception, and simulation teams

Desired Skills & Experience

Background in robotics perception, grasping, or manipulation systems

Experience with simulation platforms and synthetic data generation

Familiarity with data labeling tools and annotation workflows

Exposure to TensorFlow and/or PyTorch from a data systems perspective

Experience with cloud or Microsoft data ecosystems is a plus
