
Network Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled network professional to join our team in supporting critical optical infrastructure deployments. This role requires a unique blend of optical networking expertise and IP routing knowledge to drive the successful delivery of large-scale DWDM network implementations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities and automation skills to support optical span delivery across border optical networks, EC2 span scaling, new data center builds, and strategic holiday projects. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of optical deployments, from initial planning and cutsheet completion through auditing and execution of build workflows. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge optical technologies while leveraging automation to streamline network operations at scale.
Responsibilities
Plan, design, and execute large-scale DWDM network rollouts and optical network deployments
Complete cutsheets, perform planning activities, and audit optical spans for deployment readiness
Execute required build workflows to support optical span delivery and network scaling initiatives
Utilize optical planning and modeling tools to optimize network design and performance
Apply IP networking fundamentals and protocols to support integrated optical and IP infrastructure
Implement and troubleshoot major internet routing protocols including BGP and OSPF
Configure and maintain major router platforms including Cisco 37xx, 49xx, 65xx, 73xx, and 76xx series
Develop and implement automation solutions to streamline network deployment and operations
Perform network analysis and troubleshooting to resolve complex technical issues
Read and understand code written in Python, Perl, and other scripting languages
Support border optical networks, EC2 span scaling, and new data center build projects
Skills
Extensive experience with DWDM networks and optical network technologies
Proficiency with optical planning and modeling tools
Deep expertise in IP networking fundamentals and protocol application
In-depth knowledge of BGP and OSPF routing protocols
Advanced understanding of Cisco router platforms and compatible supervisory and line cards
Strong knowledge of DWDM, T1/OTN, IPv4 and IPv6 protocols
Experience with TCP internals and flow control mechanisms
Proficiency in HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, and LDP protocols
Knowledge of TACACS, IPSEC, VPNs, netflow, DNS, and HTTP
Ability to read and understand Python and Perl code
Strong automation development and implementation skills
Excellent network analysis and troubleshooting capabilities
IP routing and switching troubleshooting expertise
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in network engineering or related field
