Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming)
Duties Description
Develop and maintain IT systems written in JAVA, PL/SQL, and SQL, including analysis, development, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment.
Collaborate with program office and IT staff to understand business requirements of the information systems.
Analyze and recommend system modifications based on program office business requirements.
Coordinate data exchanges between the Department’s education systems.
Identify and troubleshoot problems and implement necessary solutions.
Ensure systems and procedures are properly documented, meet Department standards, and follow generally accepted IT practices to foster data and automated system integrity.
Prepare materials and create web pages for electronic publication.
Minimum Qualifications
Either (a) a bachelor’s or higher-level degree with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science; or (b) a bachelor’s or higher-level degree in any field plus at least one year of experience in information technology; or (c) 60 semester credit hours (including 15 in computer science) and one year of IT experience; or (d) two years of experience in information technology.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or two years toward earning the same degree.
Experience programming in JAVA, C++, C#, PHP, JavaScript, PL/SQL, and querying databases.
Experience using coding IDEs for application/project development.
Experience using code repositories.
Experience using workflow management tools.
