Position Overview
The Systems Administrators (Sys Admins) maintain internal IT systems, hardware, and software in compliance with CIS framework standards to support district goals. They provide daily technical support to employees, students, and stakeholders while collaborating with district, state, and vendor technology teams. Key responsibilities include implementing system upgrades, ensuring security, managing video surveillance for physical security, and conducting asset inventory and auditing.
Key Responsibilities
Implement system upgrades and maintain 24/7 uptime for servers, critical applications, and data availability.
Ensure security by applying patches, updates, and hardening operating systems.
Manage video surveillance for physical security.
Conduct asset inventory and audits.
Perform server and workstation provisioning.
Manage licensing and renewals, track software versions, hardware assets, and expiration dates.
Coordinate with Network and Security teams to meet application security requirements.
Use monitoring systems (SNMP, WMI, SolarWinds, Zabbix) to track CPU, memory, and disk health.
Implement host-level automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible.
Manage backups and disaster recovery readiness using solutions such as Veeam and CrashPlan.
Troubleshoot server and application performance issues.
Provide on‑call/on‑site support for outages and maintenance windows.
Qualifications & Knowledge
Deep knowledge of Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy, AD FS) and Linux server environments, with basic TCP/IP knowledge.
Experience with virtualization and containerization, including VMware ESXi.
Understanding of SAN/NAS storage networking, file services (NFS/SMB), and data replication technologies.
Knowledge of internal network services: DNS, DHCP, IPAM.
Experience with enterprise PKI and security: Microsoft Certificate Authority, NPS/RADIUS, endpoint security agents.
Proficiency in monitoring systems such as SolarWinds and Zabbix.
Strong automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible.
