Job Title: PRN Endo Tech
Responsibilities

Prior to procedures, assemble equipment and supplies needed (including setting up instruments, preparing procedure rooms, etc.).

Assist physicians with Endoscopy procedures.

Assist with obtaining, labeling, and delivering biopsies or labs with the RN or MD.

Help maintain, order, and stock supplies for Endoscopy.

Ensure specialized equipment and instruments are maintained; coordinate a regular maintenance program; troubleshoot minor problems with equipment; notify clinical engineering when necessary for repair.

Answer telephone inquiries about procedures in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.

May be expected to waste medications per appropriate guidelines and processes.

May be expected to perform IV insertions (if the technician has successfully completed an IV insertion course).

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Endoscopy Technician experience.

Interrelationships
Works effectively with members of the health care team, administrative personnel, and maintains a cooperative working relationship intra‑departmentally and inter‑departmentally.

Physical/Mental Demands
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. The employee is on feet most of the day, frequently lifting, stretching, and other physical exertion during positioning of patients and moving equipment. The employee is regularly required to sit and use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear. The employee occasionally stands, walks, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Environmental/Working Conditions
Exposed to patients' conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells, and contagious diseases. Normal busy office environment with much telephone work. Occasional evening or weekend work.
