About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, commercially driven Senior Business Development Manager to help originate and shape transaction opportunities within our Life & Health (L&H) Reinsurance business. This is a strategic role focused on identifying and advancing Transactions and Structured & Financial Solutions across regions.
Swiss Re partners with insurers to design bespoke reinsurance solutions that address capital, regulatory, and financial market challenges. Leveraging our global capabilities, we support clients in optimizing balance sheets, enhancing liquidity, and executing strategic priorities such as M&A, product innovation, and capital management. In this role, you will operate at the front end of the transaction lifecycle , translating market developments into actionable opportunities, shaping transaction themes, partnering with transaction originators and structuring teams. You will play a key role in the cross functional team in advancing Swiss Re's transactions capabilities.
Your Key Responsibilities
Identify new transaction prospects with clients in the L&H reinsurance space .
Monitor regulatory, macroeconomic, and industry trends — and translate them into transaction opportunities.
Build and deliver compelling business cases , propositions and related pitch materials .
Analyze client financials and capital structures to uncover reinsurance or structured solutions potential.
Partner with Transaction Originators, Structured Solutions and Market Units to shape innovative deals.
Work with internal stakeholders (e.g. accounting, risk management) to develop structures that meet customer needs and fit Swiss Re's risk appetite.
Where relevant, assess the client benefits such as capital impact and financial value of proposed transactions.
About the Team
The L&H Business Development team plays a pivotal role at the front end of Swiss Re’s transaction value chain. We focus on early-stage lead identification and the development of ideas into tangible business opportunities. Collaborating closely with Client Markets, Transaction Originators, and Structured Solutions teams, we work across markets, clients, and product lines to uncover and shape high-impact, transformative reinsurance solutions.

About You
At minimum, 8 plus years of experience in L&H re/insurance , ideally with tangible experience combining actuarial, capital management, and structured solutions capabilities .
You bring L&H re/insurance experience in US/Bermuda and ideally in UK and/or Canada.
Proactive and curious self-starter, energized by uncovering and shaping new business cases, even in ambiguous settings.
Skilled at influencing senior stakeholders , building alignment across complex teams to drive shared commercial goals.
Relevant experience with reinsurance treatment under statutory accounting, GAAP, and/or other relevant capital frameworks (e.g., RBC, BMA, IFRS, Solvency II).
Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical insights into commercially relevant narratives.
Solid understanding of L&H products, risks and capital implications .
Strong actuarial or technical background with the ability to assess insurance and financial risks and mitigants.
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field; ASA/FSA or equivalent actuarial designation preferred.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and navigate ambiguity.

Our company operates under a hybrid work model, with the expectation that employees work from the office three days per week. Please note that this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship/transfer or relocation support. The estimated base salary range for this position is $161,000 to $269,000. This range is based on factors including location, scope of role, qualifications, and budget. Swiss Re uses a “total compensation approach” that considers all components of compensation in setting individual compensation.
