Summary of Position
The Event Coordinator is responsible for large party reservations, inquiries, greeting and escort experience for The Canal Club, while maintaining a detail oriented, enthusiastic representation and efficient
running
of the Canal Club booking and dining operation. This includes consistent awareness of the requests via email and phone messages, incoming calls, and podium.
Essential Functions
Answer incoming calls related to restaurant dining inquiries and reservations, especially for groups larger than six guests.
Meet and greet guests upon arrival, offer seating options, and escort them to their tables.
Communicate group bookings and special events via pre‑shift updates or email; share current promotions, daily specials, guest comments, and relevant notes.
Receive, record, and arrange reservations and special functions for the restaurant.
Answer phones in a friendly and courteous manner.
Assist with other duties as assigned, such as carrying coffee/tea pots, refilling guests’ cups, cleaning windows, cleaning menus, and checking on guests in bar and patio areas.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma preferred.
Certificates or Licenses:
Maricopa County Food Service Worker card; CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
Experience:
Restaurant/Guest Service/Reservations experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of general restaurant operations including seating/capacity options, staffing levels, service equipment, and guest relations.
Ability to memorize and recite menu items.
Ability to effectively resolve customer complaints and concerns in a friendly, positive manner.
Ability to memorize and perform The Scott Resort & Spa Standards, AAA Diamond standards, and Mystery shopper standards.
Personal Characteristics:
Behaves ethically and honestly.
Communicates effectively: speaks, listens, and engages clearly; reads and writes in English.
Professional appearance in line with four‑diamond resort standards.
