
Pre-Kindergarten Head Teacher (one-year position)

Trevor Day School seeks candidates for a Pre-Kindergarten Head Teacher. This is a one-year position that may be extended. This faculty member is responsible for the homeroom life of approximately 12-18 students. They are also responsible for planning, implementing, and reviewing the Pre‑K curriculum, in partnership with the existing Pre‑K team and the administration.
The successful candidate should be dynamic, energetic, and creative. This individual will join a team of colleagues, working in close collaboration with their Associate Teacher, another Pre‑K teaching team, Specialist Teachers, and the entire Lower School (Threes–Grade 5) division.
Responsibilities
Developing a developmentally-appropriate curriculum for children aged 4–5 years old, built on social, emotional, and academic goals.
Planning lessons and tailoring instruction to meet students’ individual needs.
Mentoring an Associate Teacher and collaborating on curriculum planning and delivery.
Collaborating closely with other teachers and specialists to monitor student progress.
Coordinating with the faculty, families, and outside specialists.
Communicating student progress and goals through family conferences, home reports, parent meetings, and emails.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of three years of experience as a Head Teacher is preferred.
Knowledge of developmentally-appropriate Pre‑K curriculum.
Ability to track students’ progress and needs.
Comfort with differentiating instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles.
Enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development.
Proficiency in using technology to enhance classroom learning.
Proven ability to form strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility, creativity, patience, and a sense of humor.
The full-time salary range for this position is $60,000–$120,000 as per the school’s salary scale. When extending an offer for employment, Trevor Day School bases the salary upon several factors that include (but are not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education, training, key skills, and peer salary equity.
