Your Impact
CHAMP is seeking a proactive and client-focused Application Support Engineer to join our team.
You will be an essential technical team member who will develop and support multiple applications in our CHAMPGov suite for State Motor Vehicle Departments. You will have a direct positive impact on company success, growth, and client satisfaction. You will craft and execute Problem Management practices to proactively address system issues. Additionally, you will execute Incident Management production issue resolution, collaborating with client facing, engineering and architecture teams.

What You’ll Do
Responsibilities
Own the stability and performance of mission‑critical systems supporting 40+ million constituents
Lead rapid incident response and drive root cause resolution
Enact a proactive and collaborative approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement before they impact customers
Build automation to eliminate manual support tasks and improve system resilience
Develop application features, internal tooling and RESTful APIs that integrate with external systems including state DMV platforms
Improve overall observability in monitoring, metrics, logs and alerting
Troubleshoot and resolve software integrations, data integrity challenges, and application errors
Identify opportunities to improve system performance and efficiency, scalability, fault tolerance, and monitoring capabilities
Development Stack
Programming languages: Java, SQL, Python
Frameworks: Spring Boot
Tooling: Docker, Git, Terraform, GitHub Actions
Collaboration: Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Slack (or similar tools)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, boot camp certification, or equivalent work experience
1-3 years’ experience
Experience writing Java code and working with REST APIs
Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, other developers, backend services, product teams, and QA engineers
Knowledge of relational databases and SQL
Ability to follow complex design and development standards
Flexible approach, able to operate effectively with uncertainty and change
Driven, self‑motivated, and enthusiastic with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships and problem solve
Familiar with troubleshooting web‑based applications, cloud transaction processing, database queries, and software integrations.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with an ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of cloud platforms, preferably AWS

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 to $100,000 annually . This is a good faith estimate, and final compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
