Position Summary:
Direct all aspects of the food service/dietary department. Plans, organizes and supervises in accordance with all current applicable federal, state, and local standards that govern food services and nursing facilities, and as directed by the Administrator and/or Dietician.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of accredited course in dietetic training approved by the American Dietetic Association
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) license preferred
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in kitchen, supervisory position, preferably in a hospital, nursing or other related medical facility
Proven experience managing a budget and controlling food costs
Ability to lead by example and treat everyone at work kindly and professionally
Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, organize, evaluate and direct the Food Services Department reputation, programs and activities
Hire, train and supervise staff in a kind, collaborative manner in accordance with company culture
Partner with Dietician to ensure residents’ diets and nutritional needs are met
Coordinate food services and activities with other related departments as needed
Ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies
Monitors staff to confirm they adhere to all sanitation, safety and procedural guidelines within the department
Participates in facility’s surveys and inspections, developing a plan of correction if /when deficiencies are noted
Assists in developing and maintaining written food services policies and procedures
Inspects special diet trays to confirm patients/residents receiving the correct food
Ensures all meals are served on time; including snacks
Ensures food quality and that kitchen areas and equipment are clean and operable
Manages food storage rooms, utility/janitorial closets for regulatory compliance
Ensures charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive of meals provided
Attends meetings and serves on committee’s as needed or assigned
Provides reports on department status and/or for dietary programs when requested
Adheres to all dietary policies and procedures of the facility
Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information
