Psychiatric - Mental Health Physician

Position Overview

The Psychiatrist will provide direct psychiatric care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings within the correctional facility. Responsibilities include psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, medication management, and ongoing care for individuals with a range of acute and chronic mental health conditions.

Duration: 3 month assignment with ongoing extension potential
Schedule: Monday Friday, 7:00am 3:30pm (40 hours/week)
Patient Volume: 6 10 patients per day

Compensation

• Pay Rate: $8,000/weekly
  
  

Clinical Scope

• Direct psychiatric care in a 7 bed inpatient behavioral health unit
• Outpatient psychiatric care for stable inmates in general population
• Management of severe mental illness, personality disorders, suicidality
• Possible involvement in emergency certificates, involuntary medications, and therapeutic restraints (case by case)

Requirements

• MD/DO from accredited medical school
• Completion of an ACGME approved Psychiatry residency
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
• Active CT medical license
• Active DEA & DPS numbers
• BLS certification
• Ability to meet all federal, state, and facility credentialing requirements
• Prior correctional experience preferred
