Job Summary
IFF is seeking a motivated and analytically curious Consumer Insights Summer Intern to support our Consumer Insights team. This internship offers hands‑on exposure to how consumer research is designed, executed, analyzed, and translated into actionable insights that inform innovation, marketing strategy, and commercial decision‑making. The intern will work closely with experienced Consumer Insights professionals to support research program development and execution, contributing to real projects that impact product innovation and business strategy across fragrance categories.
Learning Objectives
The intern will support 1–2 core research initiatives throughout the summer, gaining experience across the full research lifecycle—from study design and sample definition to data analysis and insight storytelling. A key component of the internship will include a capstone summer project, synthesizing existing research data within a fragrance category to develop clear conclusions and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
Research Design & Execution Support
Assist with the design and setup of quantitative and qualitative research programs
Support development of questionnaires, screeners, and discussion guides for consumer testing (e.g., CLTs, HUTs, U&A studies)
Help define recruitment criteria and support sample sourcing for consumer research
Coordinate with internal partners and vendors to support study execution and logistics
Data Analysis & Insight Development
Support basic data analysis, including topline review, tab checks, and summary outputs
Assist in organizing and synthesizing consumer feedback, open‑ended responses, and key findings
Help translate research results into clear, consumer‑friendly insights that can be shared with cross‑functional teams
PowerPoint & Insight Storytelling
Support creation of PowerPoint decks summarizing research objectives, methods, results, and implications
Assist with visualizing data and insights in a clear, concise, and compelling way
Help ensure insights are communicated in a manner that supports decision‑making across marketing, commercial, and innovation teams
Summer Research Project
Lead a focused summer project compiling and analyzing existing research data within a fragrance category
Identify key consumer trends, unmet needs, and patterns across studies
Develop a concise set of research conclusions and implications, presented in a final summary deck
Who We’re Looking For
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Consumer Insights, Market Research, Psychology, Marketing, Business, or a related field
Strong interest in consumer behavior, research methodologies, and data‑driven decision‑making
Analytical mindset with attention to detail and comfort working with data
Clear and concise communicator, both written and visual
Comfortable working across multiple projects in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment
Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel; experience with survey tools or data analysis is a plus
Curious, organized, and eager to learn how research informs real business decisions
