Business Development Manager – Fire Alarm & Life Safety

Armorstack, Waukesha, WI, United States

CITADEL Portfolio Armorstack.ai | Waukesha, Wisconsin (Hybrid / Field-Based – Serving Greater Milwaukee, Madison, Appleton, and the Upper Midwest)

About Armorstack And The Opportunity

Armorstack is a Managed Intelligence Provider (MIP) headquartered in Waukesha, Wisconsin, with 23+ years of experience protecting mission‑critical operations across the Upper Midwest and beyond. Unlike traditional MSPs or standalone security providers, we deliver unified intelligence that converges cybersecurity (SENTRY) , IT infrastructure (CORE) , strategic advisory (VERITY) , and physical security (CITADEL) into one accountable platform.

Our CITADEL portfolio delivers Absolute Physical Integrity through elite access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, low‑voltage infrastructure, fire alarm systems , and life safety solutions . We are aggressively expanding the Fire Alarm & Life Safety Practice to meet growing demand from Wisconsin organizations that require code‑compliant, integrated systems capable of bridging physical events (fire, smoke, tampering, mass notification) directly into our AI‑powered 24/7 SOC for proactive threat intelligence and response.

As Business Development Manager – Fire Alarm & Life Safety , you will lead growth initiatives for this high‑potential practice. You will hunt new business, expand existing accounts, build strategic partnerships, and position Armorstack’s converged CITADEL + SENTRY solutions as the intelligent, single‑source alternative to fragmented vendors. This is a pivotal role in scaling a key revenue driver while helping Wisconsin businesses achieve measurable resilience across physical and digital domains.

You will operate in a consultative, solution‑oriented environment where success is measured not just by bookings, but by long‑term client outcomes: reduced risk, simplified compliance (NFPA, Wisconsin DSPS, HIPAA, CMMC, SOC 2, NIST), fewer vendors, and faster incident response through intelligent integration.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to significantly grow the Fire Alarm & Life Safety Practice across Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest, targeting new construction, system upgrades, monitoring/integration services, and maintenance contracts.

Identify, qualify, and close new opportunities with mid‑market enterprises in key verticals: healthcare facilities, manufacturing plants, educational institutions, financial services, government contractors, and commercial properties.

Build and nurture a robust pipeline through outbound prospecting, networking with architects, engineers, general contractors, facility managers, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), as well as leveraging referrals and existing Armorstack client relationships.

Conduct consultative discovery calls and presentations that articulate the unique value of Armorstack’s converged platform — e.g., how fire alarm and life safety systems integrate with SENTRY SOC monitoring for real‑time intelligence, reduced false alarms, and proactive risk mitigation.

Collaborate with technical teams (CITADEL engineers, SENTRY SOC analysts, VERITY advisors) to design customized, code‑compliant solutions (NFPA 72, NFPA 70, Wisconsin SPS codes) that deliver measurable ROI, such as improved compliance, lower total cost of ownership, and enhanced overall resilience.

Drive cross‑selling and upselling within the full MIP platform — positioning fire/life safety as the foundation for broader access control, video surveillance, cybersecurity, and IT convergence opportunities.

Manage the sales cycle end‑to‑end: RFP responses, proposal development, technical demonstrations, contract negotiations, and successful handoff to delivery teams.

Track and report on key metrics (pipeline health, win rates, revenue growth, practice expansion targets) while contributing to continuous improvement of sales processes, marketing collateral, and go‑to‑market strategies for life safety services.

Stay current with evolving fire/life safety technologies (addressable systems, wireless, mass notification, AI‑enhanced detection), regulatory changes, and industry trends to serve as a trusted advisor to prospects and clients.

Represent Armorstack at local industry events, trade shows, and associations (e.g., Wisconsin fire safety organizations, ASIS, NFPA chapters) to build brand presence and generate qualified leads.

What Success Looks Like

Achieve or exceed aggressive revenue and practice‑growth targets for the Fire Alarm & Life Safety line within the first 12–18 months.

Build a healthy, qualified pipeline that supports scalable expansion of the CITADEL practice while maintaining high win rates and strong client satisfaction.

Secure strategic wins that demonstrate the power of converged MIP solutions — e.g., multi‑site healthcare systems or manufacturers adopting integrated fire/life safety + SOC monitoring.

Contribute to Armorstack’s reputation as Wisconsin’s go‑to provider for intelligent, integrated physical security that eliminates integration gaps and vendor sprawl.

Qualifications
Required:

5+ years of proven business development or sales experience in fire alarm, life safety, physical security, or low‑voltage systems (new construction and/or service/maintenance contracts).

Strong understanding of NFPA 72, NFPA 70, Wisconsin fire and building codes, AHJ processes, and common fire alarm/life safety technologies and manufacturers.

Demonstrated success hunting and closing complex, solution‑based sales with mid‑market to enterprise clients in regulated industries.

Excellent consultative selling, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value.

Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly throughout the state (primarily daytime, with occasional evenings for networking/events).

Preferred / Highly Valued

Experience selling converged or integrated security solutions that combine physical systems with cybersecurity monitoring or IT services.

Existing relationships with Wisconsin‑area architects, engineers, contractors, facility directors, or fire safety professionals.

Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to Armorstack clients (HIPAA, CMMC, SOC 2, NIST).

NICET certification (any level) or manufacturer‑specific fire alarm certifications.

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Hunter mentality combined with a collaborative, team‑oriented approach — comfortable working in a fast‑growing MIP environment where sales, technical, and advisory teams partner closely.
