
Product Support Engineer/Specialist

As a Product Support Engineer/Specialist for the Substation Market, you will be responsible for assisting the Market Manager with new product development and technical support for new and existing product lines. This role will support U.S. Sales growth by actively participating in quoting activities and conducting technical reviews of customer requirements. Works as a liaison between sales and engineering to market products and grow the product offering.
Duties & Responsibilities
Create Project Requests for new products. Include the “commercial specifications” which outline the features, the performance requirements, the cost objectives, and the date required.
Monitor the progress of new product development programs, and actively participate in interim design reviews. Suggest changes as required to meet the objectives of the commercial specifications.
Initiate formal or MS specification requests, as required. Follow up on the progress of these requests.
Initiate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) on existing products to make changes necessary to meet changing requirements of customers or industry standards.
Work with Marketing Communications to develop and maintain sales literature and application procedures for new and existing products.
Provide technical support to customers, sales network, Customer Service personnel and international subsidiaries.
Provide assistance to other members of the Sales and Marketing Department, as required.
Provide assistance in the review and response (including support documentation) to bid proposals (domestic and international, as required).
Work with Engineering to analyze and resolve product malfunctions and complaints.
Actively participate in industry meetings and trade shows.
Qualifications and Requirements
Four-year degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred (may be waived with appropriate experience). A Bachelor's degree must be earned from a university in the United States.
Technical sales experience a plus, preferably in the Substation market
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), working knowledge of CRM.
Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
Market knowledge along with a high energy level is important.
Knowledge of layout and detail drafting techniques.
Must possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform strenuous work as required to demonstrate product installations in a variety of field environments.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Travel
Ability to travel a minimum of 15-25% Domestic and 0-5% International
Schedule
Standard office hours with flextime
