Caterpillar is seeking multiple Fabrications Quality Manager positions on all three shifts in Sanford, NC. In this role, you collaborate with the Assembly team to maintain and improve processes and systems in the fabrications of the products produced in the CTL & TRF fabrications facility. You will analyze and recommend current and future systems procedures and equipment needs based on fabrication requirements.
What you can look forward to in this role
Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean product environment.
Plan work and manage shop floor quality controllers.
Determine processing needs to ensure fixtures, tooling and methods are provided to meet schedules and production requirements.
Organize checking and repair of measurement devices. Conduct initial testing, selection, training and assessment of quality controllers.
Daily tie‑in with production management to designate workload, priorities and sequence for work assigned.
Determine overtime need, determine priorities when resources are insufficient, and decide when disciplinary action is necessary.
Suggest changes in working conditions and the use of equipment to increase efficiency.
Work to improve processes, timeliness, and reduce costs by eliminating non‑value‑added activities.
Ensure the quality of product produced and conforms to Caterpillar's Quality Policy while maintaining cost.
Ensure necessary parts and materials are ordered and distributed in a timely and efficient manner.
Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, CQMS/ISO certification, etc.

Planning and Organizing:
Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Performance Management: Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply an organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to develop and improve individual, team, and organizational performance.
Top Candidates for this position may also have
Welding and fabrication experience.
Machining experience.
Previous manufacturing experience.
Experience in multiple manufacturing support disciplines.
Experience managing teams to production, budgetary, and efficiency targets.
Additional Information
The primary location for this position is Sanford, NC.
There is an 8% Shift Premium for 2nd & 3rd Shift roles.
The first weeks of training will be on 1st Shift.
Domestic relocation assistance is not available.

1st Shift: Monday‑Friday 06:00‑20:00
2nd Shift: Monday‑Friday 20:00‑10:00
3rd Shift: Sunday‑Thursday 22:00‑06:00
Summary Pay Range
$72,360.00 - $108,540.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
