Position Description
Staff Engineers are
recognized technical authorities
who lead the development of innovative solutions, guide technical strategy, and solve the most complex engineering challenges across the organization. They break down large‑scale problems into actionable work for others, mentor technical leaders, and influence company‑wide technical direction.
This position is located on‑site in Sedro‑Woolley, Washington State.
Serves as a
technical knowledge expert , applying deep expertise to solve complex, high‑impact engineering challenges
Decomposes large‑scale technical problems into actionable tasks for engineering teams
Provides
strategic technical guidance
across programs, influencing company‑wide direction
Leads development of innovative solutions, engineering standards, and best practices
Integrates advanced knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines to drive cross‑functional initiatives
Mentors engineers and emerging technical leaders, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer
Oversees major engineering projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and successful delivery
Communicates complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including senior leadership
Demonstrates strong business acumen, ensuring technical strategies align with business objectives
Champions major improvement initiatives that enhance organizational performance and technical capability
Represents Janicki in high‑stakes technical discussions, both internally and externally
Drives strategic initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and address complex customer challenges
Sets technical direction within their specialty and contributes to industry‑level standards
The Staff Engineer role includes multiple levels of competency, determined by performance, expertise, and leadership impact.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field required; advanced degree preferred
Demonstrated mastery in one or more engineering disciplines
Proven experience solving complex, high‑impact technical problems
Experience leading cross‑functional engineering initiatives
Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and guide technical strategy
Experience with CATIA, NX, or equivalent CAD software preferred
Experience with composites, advanced manufacturing, or complex aerospace assemblies is ideal
Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and require candidate agreement to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
Detailed Wage Information
Wage range for this role is between
$130,000 – $170,000 per year
plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off‑shifts, off‑site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job‑related and non‑discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
