As a Trades Supervisor for Traffic Signals, you will lead a dedicated team to ensure the safety and connectivity of our community's infrastructure. A high-level overview of your day will include coordination of skilled crews and solving complex technical challenges to keep Aurora's traffic signal systems operating at peak performance. The hiring range for this role is: $ 77,791 - $97,239/annually.

Position overview.
The Trades Supervisor (Traffic Signals) monitors and coordinates the activities of skilled and semi-skilled workers engaged in the installation, maintenance, repair, and fabrication of traffic signal equipment. This position reports to the Traffic Superintendent.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct, manage, and coordinate the operation, maintenance, construction, upgrade, and regulatory compliance of the City's traffic signal system.
Plans, assigns, monitors, and coordinates the work activities of assigned crews.
Resolves problems and conflicts arising during the work.
Prepares productivity and activity reports.
Provides training for staff and ensures the team have the resources they need to do their work
Develops work plans for proactive signal maintenance and assigns work to the team daily based on needs
Develops process improvements for maintenance activities
Reports and investigates accidents.
Assists in preparing and recommending equipment specifications.
Maintains records of, and makes recommendations concerning materials, manpower and equipment used.
Maintains and enforces safety regulations and procedures.
Coordinates preventive maintenance programs.
Inspects work in progress for conformance to standards.
Develop and manage the budget and establish budgetary allocations for routine/preventative maintenance, and capital maintenance activities
Monitor work in progress to pinpoint problems and to ensure organized and efficient work and quality work products
Identify personnel, material, and equipment needs
Monitor and evaluate employees' performance. Provide ongoing and regular instruction and input as well as perform performance reviews
Facilitate good communication with co-workers and engineering staff. This includes communicating direction and policies, providing information, and receiving feedback
Ensure the equipment assigned to a work group is maintained, used, and kept in proper working condition
Respond to resident requests for service related to the installation, operation, and maintenance of traffic signal systems
Develop and manage annual equipment procurement documents and process payments to vendors
Makes recommendations regarding selection, hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining of assigned employees.
Administers work rules and City policies and procedures.
Supervises assigned employees.
May coordinate with contractors on City projects.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in skilled maintenance, repair, or construction work in assigned function.
At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
IMSA Traffic Signal Level III Certificate.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and operating procedures utilized in assigned function and hazards and safety practices common to machinery and equipment utilized.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
Colorado Driver's License
Must obtain city of Aurora Basic Supervisory certificate within six (6) months of employment in the position or as the class becomes available.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the city, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
Light physical work requiring ability to lift 20 pounds with or without assistance.
Occasional lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
