Carpenter/Laborer Job Description
Bailey-Harris Construction Co., Inc. is looking for a carpenter/laborer. This position involves accurately laying out, measuring, and cutting materials to build or erect forms for placing concrete into. You should have a general understanding of how form systems work and the parts and pieces that make them up. This position will also tie steel for reinforcements and assist in concrete placement. In addition to form building, rough carpenters should have knowledge of additional assemblies required to make a building ready for finishes. This could include setting anchor bolts to proper line and elevation, setting door and window frames plumb, level and square, etc.
Duties and responsibilities include reporting on time and in sound physical condition for work every day, constructing concrete formwork, handling and tying reinforcing in place, learning new/different forming systems, placing and consolidating concrete in formwork, maintaining a safe and orderly work area at all times, understanding safe work practices relating to this position, communicating material needs prior to running out.
Carpentry requirements include proficiency with power tools such as circular saws, drill motors, hammer drills, etc.
Qualifications include knowledge of occupation hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in the workplace, operating principles of all hand tools, listening effectively, communicating effectively, performing manual labor such as digging or shoveling, moving objects weighing up to 75 pounds regularly, safely and efficiently operating and using associated tools and equipment, working as a team member, walking over rough, uneven, or slippery surfaces, and experience working in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
Position experience and education include preferred 3-5 years of experience in concrete form work and/or rough carpentry, and high school graduation or equivalent is desirable.
