Qualifications
Must possess current Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate
Master’s degree in English Language Arts (preferred)
Possess a working knowledge of effective, research-based intervention programs, models and strategies in elementary ELA
ESL Endorsement or experience working with English Learners (preferred)
Performance Responsibilities
Provide direct services to students identified for services in the area of ELA instruction.
Provide resources and training to school staff on evidence-based ELA research and practices.
Provide instructional coaching support (ex: co-teacher, model, demonstrate, observe, and provide feedback) to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals on using best practices in the area of English Language Arts.
Provide support for the implementation of the core ELA programs and approaches selected by the district that support the State Standards in English Language Arts.
Assist teachers and paraprofessionals with instructional interventions.
Act as a catalyst for building a school learning community that focuses on integrated learning, and building connections across grades.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials while providing individualized and small group instruction to ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of each student.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that ensure a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluate and prepare reports on student academic and social progress, while keeping appropriate records to effectively document these assessments.
Communicate with parents during parent/teacher conferences and other appropriate times when needed or desired.
Ensure professional growth by actively participating in professional development activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
Select and requisition books and instructional materials when needed. Maintain required inventory records.
Supervise students within and outside of the classroom during the assigned working day.
Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing policies and procedures.
Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
Assist with extra-curricular activities as needed.
