Public Health Program Specialist III – Public Health District IX
This time‑limited position supports the Ryan White Part B Ending the HIV Epidemic (RWEHE) program at the Mississippi State Department of Health as an STD/HIV Community Health Worker (CHW) in Public Health District IX. The applicant must be a resident of one of the counties in District IX and will advance care and services for persons living with HIV (PLWH) in the region.
Key Responsibilities
Engage Community Health Centers to implement and sustain RWEHE programs.
Ensure timely linkage to care for individuals diagnosed with HIV.
Identify unmet needs, make referrals, and promote viral suppression among PLWH.
Support health promotion activities, including HIV screening and education in targeted counties and congregational settings.
Connect communities to health and social services while serving as a trusted health resource for the Ryan Part B EHE program.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience in public health, HIV care, or related fields.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Experience providing HIV care and services and engaging community partners.
Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative, and self‑motivated environment.
