Manager, Autonomous Vehicles OEM Programs

Uber, Washington, District of Columbia, United States

About The Role

Autonomous Mobility and Delivery (AM\&D) team at Uber is seeking to accelerate the arrival of safe, secure autonomous mobility and delivery offerings that complement our existing products and are beneficial for our customers, partners, and communities. We are collaborating across the ecosystem with a diverse set of stakeholders and with leading companies involved in the development and operation of self-driving vehicles and fleets.
We are seeking a highly driven and strategic Manager, AV OEM Programs to work on complex, cross‑functional initiatives for the next generation of autonomous vehicles on the Uber Platform. In this high-impact, high‑visibility role, you will act as connective tissue between Uber and its external autonomous and automotive partners, championing Uber’s interests while ensuring seamless coordination and execution of next‑generation fleets. You will focus on vehicle programs from zero‑to‑one, requiring Uber to be more involved from initial scoping to commercial launch.
What You’ll Do

Program Ownership & Delivery: Define and drive complex programs from early planning through full‑scale deployment, aligning business goals, legal/regulatory frameworks, and operational requirements.
Strategic Planning & Documentation: Help manage the cross‑functional strategic and business planning process. Lead conversations with key stakeholders to develop strategic concepts and turn them into detailed program/project plans (including roadmaps, funding, resource planning, and measurable outcomes).
Cross‑Functional Coordination: Coordinate large‑scale, multi‑functional initiatives, tracking progress, resolving dependencies, and communicating status to upper management. Integrate timelines from multiple distinct partners (AVs, OEMs, Tier 1s) to identify gaps and troubleshoot potential issues.
External Partner Management: Champion Uber’s interests with external AV partners. Track and execute external partner obligations in collaboration with various stakeholders.
Technical Fluency: Develop a deep understanding of the technical details for the AM\&D Program, including key work streams such as Safety, Vehicle Hardware, Technical Integration, and Fleet Management.
Metrics & Success: Regularly report out to executive leadership with clear summaries of progress, risks, and decisions required.
Autonomy & Agility: Operate with a high level of autonomy, navigating ambiguity to drive clarity and alignment in a complex, evolving environment. Proactively remove obstacles to drive momentum and progress.
Basic Qualifications

6+ years leading complex, cross‑functional programs in environments that blend hardware, software, and operations
Bachelor’s Degree
Fluency with data to support decisions, including SQL or equivalent analytical capability
Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to autonomous systems or adjacent domains, robotics, advanced driver assistance, or complex sensing platforms
Experience working with OEMs, Tier 1s, or autonomy companies, but not limited to a single domain
Proven track record taking ambiguous, early‑stage initiatives from concept through launch, not just scaling existing programs
Experience working across company boundaries, with external partners where incentives, timelines, and constraints don’t fully align
Strong systems thinking, able to connect vehicle hardware, autonomy stacks, fleet operations, and marketplace implications into a coherent plan
Comfort operating without clear structure, able to define scope, create alignment, and drive execution in parallel
Clear communication style, able to influence technical and non‑technical stakeholders, internally and externally
Background that blends program management with product, design or engineering thinking
Familiarity with vehicle hardware development cycles and constraints
Experience integrating multiple partners into a single program, especially where ownership is shared or unclear
Demonstrated ability to challenge partner assumptions and represent company interests in external forums
Compensation and Benefits

Base salary for this role ranges from USD$162,000 to USD$180,000 per year for New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; and Washington, DC.
