
Facilities Specialist (El Dorado State Park)

This position is located in El Dorado, Kansas and is supervised by the park Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Applications will close on May 1, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Performs skilled work in multiple trades, including planning and assisting with maintenance and construction projects, and estimating materials and labor.
Installs and repairs electrical systems, HVAC controls, programmable switches, alarm systems, water and sewer lines, plumbing fixtures, and related components.
Forms, finishes, and repairs concrete structures including buildings, sidewalks, shelters, cabins, ramps, trails, and other facilities in compliance with ADA and safety standards.
Constructs, maintains, and paints park facilities and equipment.
Operates and maintains water distribution systems.
Serves as lead worker, directing and evaluating seasonal staff and volunteers.
Operates and maintains heavy equipment and tools.
Applies herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals as required.
Assists the public and completes required operational and monthly reports.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
3 years of experience in mechanical or building trades
Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and construction trades
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check
Necessary Special Requirements
May be required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License and pass controlled substance testing.
Must be eligible for potable and wastewater certification and chemical application certification.
