Produce Assistant Department Manager – Eau Claire, WI
Reports to: Produce Department Manager. Provides assistance to the Produce Department Manager by working closely with all Produce associates to ensure an enjoyable shopping experience, adherence to company policies, achievement of department goals, and support of associates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform tasks as delegated by the Produce Department Manager and effectively lead the Produce Department in the absence of the Manager.

Reinforce Festival culture, customer service, and performance expectations to all Produce associates.

Train new and current Produce associates as needed.

Write and conduct performance reviews.

Document policy violations and conduct corrective actions up to termination.

Answer questions and provide guidance to all department associates.

Ensure all department standards are met.

Observe sales floor and back stock conditions; take corrective actions.

Maintain inventory levels and ensure accurate pricing.

Communicate and work cooperatively with Store Director, Produce Manager, other Department Managers, and associates.

Provide customer service to guests: help find items, take orders, answer phone, resolve concerns.

Assist associates with daily responsibilities and lead by example.

Maintain cleanliness of department; pick up, organize, clean.

Maintain food safety logs.

Ensure department timekeeping accuracy; communicate to HR regarding any issues.

Ensure quality standards are met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule.

Qualifications

High School Education or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in a leadership role and ability to motivate a team.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Proficiency with technology and a computer.

Comprehensive knowledge of the retail food business and perishable department operations, merchandising skills, and ability to make timely decisions.

Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and personnel.

Knowledge and understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies.

Ability to apply on‑job safety training to recognize and react to potential hazards. Proper training and knowledge of hand jack, baler, forklift, cutter, lifting techniques, scanning technique, hand truck, and trash compactor required.

Must possess a WI Certified Food Manager License (Festival will pay for certification if not already obtained).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Standing for extended periods.

Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.

Work Schedule
Full‑time position. Work schedule includes mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
