Project Manager – Shoals Technologies Group
The Project Manager at Shoals will provide leadership and direction to cross‑functional teams comprised of users, business stakeholders, IT, vendors, and other stakeholders. This role will be a member of the Shoals PMO and help manage the project portfolio. As Shoals transitions to a more Agile way of delivery, we will require a hybrid Agile approach. It will require the use of good judgement and skill to develop a project management approach that is suitable for planning and managing the effort. The role will also require a consultative approach to engage the appropriate people, processes, tools and to improve efficiency and effectiveness. The Project Manager will collaborate with the stakeholders (IT Product Managers, Executives, Directors, etc.) to successfully deliver on the projects and capabilities for each domain. This role will also act as a team builder to promote empowerment of the team, creating a safe environment for failing fast and learning, engagement and participation of team members and encouraging a sustainable pace that can maintain quality.
Responsibilities
Manage the full project lifecycle, from planning and development to implementation and closure.
Create project and work plans.
Coordinate and supervise activities of the teams to ensure seamless collaboration.
Communicate regularly with stakeholders, providing updates on project status, presentations, and technical insights as required.
Collaborate with the vendor(s), team and product manager(s) to understand the impact of changes on capacity and timeline.
Oversee the planning, scheduling, and tracking of project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Proactively refine backlog(s) so requirements, resources, or infrastructure gaps for the highest priority work are identified and resolved prior to the start of the sprint.
Ensure that all requirements, project plans, and changes to commitment are communicated to all affected stakeholders.
Measure and monitor progress at clearly defined points in the process and take corrective actions, as needed, to deliver the project on time and within budget.
Proactively remove blocking issues within and external to teams.
Provide oversight and implement control processes for management of project scope, schedule, and budget.
Coordinate and ensure completion of all deliverables from the various teams to accompany go‑live dates, releases, etc.
Organize and lead project status, working meetings, and scrum ceremonies.
Champion the adoption of Agile across the organization, providing coaching and training to team members to enhance their understanding and execution of these methodologies.
Maintain a high standard of professional conduct and leadership, setting an example for team members.
Qualifications
Expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies, including a minimum of 8+ years of experience as a Project Manager managing large, complex technical projects in an environment with multi‑function teams. PMP preferred.
Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise‑level projects. PMI‑ACP, CSM, or equivalent preferred.
Experience overseeing multi‑function project teams with at least 10‑15 team members including Business Stakeholders, Users, Developers, Business Analysts, and QA Personnel.
Balanced business/technical background: sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to technical teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues.
Ability to provide leadership to business analysts and collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value.
Skills Required
BA or BS or equivalent experience is required; MA or MS is a plus.
Very effective interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing demands.
In‑depth knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
Proven ability to lead software implementation/integration/development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met.
Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using appropriate tools:
Agile Project Management tools such as Jira, Rally, Azure DevOps, VersionOne or equivalent.
Microsoft Project, Visio, and other MS Office Tools.
Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level.
Creative approach to problem‑solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view.
