Overview
This position will act as a Supervisor role over the night shift Respiratory Care staff, including RC techs and RRT's. The Supervisor will assist the manager in interviewing, hiring, onboarding/training, scheduling, of new night shift staff and oversee job duties and performance for these staff. The Supervisor will also be the primary staff ordering and monitoring usage of all Respiratory Care supplies and equipment.

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year – American Heart Association (AHA)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year – American Heart Association (AHA)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 1 year – American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
Work Experience

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Coach, precept, and develop the night shift staff in professionalism/behaviors and technical skills; demonstrate good clinical leadership, communication skills, and the ability to multi‑task. Must be able to accept and institute change.
Motivate and inspire the team; provide timely feedback, praise, encouragement, and recognition; create a culture of trust; stay calm and help others maintain perspective; anticipate and act on changing workforce needs.
Work with the manager to ensure adequate staffing for the night shift.
Hold people accountable for service standards and expectations; provide guidance, counseling, and disciplinary action when appropriate; promptly address conflicts through listening and seeking multiple perspectives.
Participate in PI data gathering to assess how clinical practice is being administered.
Evaluate and monitor therapy provided to ensure optimal level of care consistent with departmental policies and procedures.
Perform clinical problem‑solving to approach decisions through proper evaluation and to rearrange priorities.
Track inventories of medical equipment used in the department and work with the manager to ensure proper levels are maintained.
Ensure equipment is clean, processed, and in proper working order at all times before leaving the shift; keep the department clean and organized.
Function as a role model in Respiratory Care, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base.
Department Specific Job Function
Ensure new night shift staff have the support, knowledge, skills, and resources needed to fulfill the job description, including completion of all orientation check‑offs and required competencies.
Provide clinical support and assistance to the Respiratory Care staff.
Review night shift staffing with the Manager and leader on call weekly.
Assist Manager in completing performance evaluations and check‑ins for night shift staff.
Ensure all code boxes are checked and stocked routinely.
Check consumable supply levels weekly and order supplies as needed; inform Manager of any back‑orders.
Track disinfectant tub dates and ensure documentation of testing is done on schedule.
Perform any special projects as assigned by the Manager.
Assist Manager with completing and monitoring payroll.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $37.82 per hour – $65.05 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
