Inventory Management & Asset Protection

Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store, including front end and pharmacy.

Support pharmacy inventory management activities such as receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns.

Champion On‑Shelf Availability and manage all in‑store inventory processes, including receiving, counting, pricing, returns, and planogram validation.

Review and coordinate proper use of reports and system applications that impact front end and pharmacy on‑hand balances and pricing.

Maintain front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques, file claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods including prescription drugs.

Open and close the store in the absence of management, handle required system start‑ups, cash handling, and cashier responsibilities, and ensure the floor and stock room are ready for the business day.

Customer Experience

Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.

When serving as the leader on duty, resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.

Model and share customer service best practices with team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.

Operations

Execute and coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes, including creating, reviewing, and receiving orders.

Scan all deliveries while the vendor is still in the store, taking appropriate actions for delivered products, and opening tickets for inaccuracies.

Under pharmacist supervision, verify all pharmacy shipments and complete postings of pharmacy warehouse orders, prescription and OTC orders, secondary vendor orders, flu and dropship orders, and report shortages or damaged product.

Complete On‑Shelf Availability (OSA) end‑to‑end process, including warehouse and direct store delivery (DSD) for planogrammed departments, disposals, call‑ins, vendor returns, and scan‑outs/scan‑ins on subscribed departments.

Under pharmacist supervision, complete pharmacy inventory activities such as recalls, vendor returns, non‑controlled and damaged salvage returns, excess inventory returns, and interstore transfers.

Execute all pricing activities, including price changes, markdowns, and regulatory pricing tasks.

Support front end and pharmacy ordering, monitor manual orders for excess, and maintain consigned inventory.

Ensure pull & quarantine items on‑hand are updated and placed in the designated holding area.

Maintain accurate inventory counts and on‑hand quantities for basic departments, stockroom, and overstock locations.

Maintain compliance with state and local laws for regulated products (e.g., alcohol and tobacco).

Assist in maintaining inventory records, including receiving, posting, organizing files, and retaining invoices/receipts/returns.

Prepare for physical inventory and support inventory day activities, including floor and pharmacy preparation and auditing.

Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised.

Know all store systems and equipment.

Coaching on package delivery activities, scanning in/out of packages, and supporting the Pickup Program.

When serving as leader on duty, record all sales on the POS, handle scanning errors, price verifications, voids, product returns, refunds, cash drops, and provide change.

Comply with company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.

Complete any additional activities and tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

Attend company‑based trainings and complete all e‑learning modules, including safety training requirements.

Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by the state.

Communications

Serve as a liaison between management and non‑management team members, coaching and developing capabilities with inventory systems.

When serving as leader on duty, communicate assigned tasks, and report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.

Basic Qualifications

Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal candidates) or one year of prior retail work experience (external candidates).

Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Achieving expectations rating on last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the previous 12 months (internal candidates only).

Attention to detail and ability to multi‑task and manage execution.

Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.

Prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.
