A privately held engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced
Survey Manager
to oversee field teams and support project delivery across a range of development and infrastructure work. This role is ideal for someone who has progressed through the field, understands both technical and operational aspects of surveying, and is comfortable leading teams while staying close to project execution.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily activities of survey crews and coordinate field operations
Provide guidance on layout, staking, and various types of survey work
Review calculations, field data, and deliverables to ensure accuracy
Work cross-functionally with engineering teams, contractors, and clients
Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and contract support
Lead, mentor, and develop junior and mid-level staff
Requirements
Approximately 10+ years of experience in land surveying
Background managing teams, projects, or survey operations
Strong technical foundation in:
Boundary and construction-related survey work
Geometric calculations and data analysis
CAD-based platforms (Civil 3D or similar)
Active California PLS preferred, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
Effective communicator with strong leadership and problem-solving skills
Competitive base salary in the $125K – $165K range
