Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Administrative Support Coordinator I serves as the assistant to the Cooper‑Woodson College (CWC) Program Director and provides administrative and clerical support through successful coordination of projects, events, and activities while being cognizant of deadlines. Responsible for the day‑to‑day office coordination, providing lead work direction to an Administrative Support Assistant II and student assistant. The incumbent assists the Director with all aspects of budget transactions; responsible for processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate fiscal records. This position ensures that excellent customer service is provided to all students, faculty, staff, and other visitors to the Program.
FLSA : Non‑Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)
Anticipated Hiring Range : $3,373 per month (Step 1) – $3,440 per month (Step 2)
CSU Classification Salary Range : $3,373 per month (Step 1) – $4,913 per month (Step 20)
Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.
Recruitment Type : Temporary (renewable based on budget)
Time Base : Full‑Time
Pay Plan : 10/12- This position is on the 10/12 Pay Plan. The off‑work month are June and July. Benefits and salary are paid over 12 months. In the initial year of starting the 10/12, depending on the timing of the hire, pay may be adjusted in the month(s) off. Pay adjustments may also impact benefits. Months in off‑work status may be modified by management at time of hire.
Work Hours : Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Cooper‑Woodson College Enhancement Program is an association of faculty, staff, students, and community members who are committed to recognizing and upholding the tradition represented in Pan African cultures that are best expressed in relationships between historically Black Colleges and students. It involves adults in the community assuming responsibility for shaping and guiding a learning environment supportive of, responsive to, and nurturing of CWC students.
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require knowledge of business mathematics beyond basis arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite. These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Required Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
Thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems and packages.
Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects.
Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
Working knowledge of fiscal policies and procedures.
Ability to perform business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.
Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
Ability to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts in a diverse environment, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
Ability to coordinate large events under general supervision.
Ability to adhere to Hornet Honor Code.
Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an institution of higher education.
Experience providing administrative/clerical support in a university environment.
Knowledge of Sacramento State software applications such as PeopleSoft/Common Management System (CMS).
Knowledge of University infrastructure, policies/procedures, financial record‑keeping, and payroll.
Conditions of Employment
