Primary Purpose Of Position
The Operations Manager is responsible for safe, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of the facility. The manager evaluates and manages plant performance and initiates improvements affecting reliability, availability, and efficiency. The manager operates the plant in a manner that minimizes the cost of generation and maximizes profitability while maintaining the long‑term viability of the station assets. The manager exercises leadership, engages others in the required process, and holds people accountable.
Primary Duties And Accountabilities
Direct, plan and coordinate the day‑to‑day activities of operating personnel to meet generation schedules, including efficient utilization of fuel as it relates to unit operation and fuel handling.
Manage personnel development, performance management, and labor relations in accordance with the CBA, if applicable, and administer company and station policies/procedures utilizing excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
Participate in station strategic and business planning initiatives.
Develop and manage the operating group Operations & Maintenance (O&M) budget and expenditures.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and maintain environmental stewardship.
Provide communication and reporting of plant status and activities to support plant objectives.
All other job assignments and/or duties pursuant to company policy or as directed by management, including but not limited to department duty coverage and call‑out, and positions outside the department in support of outage activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline with 8 years power plant experience, OR
Associate's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline with 10 years power plant experience, OR
High school diploma/GED with 12 years power plant experience.
Supervisory or managerial experience.
Hold or acquire applicable State License as required.
Experience in one of the following: Engineering, Maintenance, or Work Management.
Experienced Operator, Foreman, or Shift Manager.
Energy industry professional certification or recognition.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Maintain minimum access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering, business or related field.
Multi‑site experience.
Collective bargaining experience.
