COMPASS Program Manager

City of New York, New York, NY, United States

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community‑based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. The Department of Youth and Community Development’s Comprehensive Afterschool System of NYC (COMPASS), formerly known as the Out‑of‑School Time Program, is comprised of over 800 programs serving young people enrolled in grades K-12.

Program Managers monitor and provide support to the COMPASS portfolio of youth programs. A primary focus of their monitoring is ensuring that DYCD‑funded agencies follow all required health and safety protocols. The COMPASS initiative provides childcare services to low‑income working families across New York City during the school year, school holidays and summer months. Over 100,000 young people participate in the COMPASS program annually. In addition, childcare participants receive meals, academic enrichment, cultural and recreational programming.

The Program Manager’s role is key to the success of the initiative. Program Managers are responsible for ensuring contractual compliance and providing programmatic support to providers who operate after‑school services for all youth.
