Physical Requirements : Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments.
Shift : Must work three night shifts (7P-730AM) per week (36 hours); some weekend and holiday work required.

Job Summary & Responsibilities
Registered Nurses in the Adult Medicine Services CH 7MAIN Acute/Progressive Universal Care at UK Chandler Hospital provide care for adult patients who are moderately stable, with fluctuating patient acuity, have complex needs and require comprehensive care. Patient care will include frequent assessment of pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular and neurological conditions.
The Adult Internal and Pulmonary Medicine Services Floor provides a more intensive level of care and monitoring including progressive care, telemetry, and medical/surgical. As a part of this unit, the RN serves as an important component of the interdisciplinary progressive care team. This team is responsible for closely monitoring the patient's physiologic condition, performing frequent treatments as ordered by the physician, and providing a safe transition from intensive care to progressive / acute care.
The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction.
Qualifications & Skills

Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson’s Caring model.
Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Education/Experience: BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience.
Certification/License: No supervisory responsibilities. This role does not involve supervising staff.
