Overview
This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as a Pharmacy Technician – F/C within Pharmacy Services. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across all sections within the program office, utilizes independent judgment, and demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
Lifting, bending, squatting, and pulling.
Assists the pharmacist in dispensing medication orders for units as prescribed by physicians.
Labeling of preparations and prescriptions.
Counting, weighing, measuring, and pouring of prescription medication or stock legend drugs and controlled substances, including the filling of an automated medication system.
Ordering and restocking supplies based on usage.
Rotating drugs in assigned area and reordering drugs based on usage.
Routinely checking expiration dates of drugs in pharmacy‑assigned area/automated dispensing device and completing drug destruction log.
Participating in a monitoring program to remove deteriorated pharmaceuticals to a quarantine area, under the direct supervision of the pharmacist.
Performing any other mechanical, technical, or administrative tasks that do not constitute the practice of the profession of Pharmacy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the standards and terminology used in the practice of pharmacy.
Ability to inventory supplies.
Ability to maintain records.
Ability to collect and analyze data and prepare reports.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work responsibilities.
Ability to prepare purchase requisitions.
Minimum Qualifications
Registered Pharmacy Technician with the State of Florida Board of Pharmacy.
High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a vocational, military, or community college pharmacy technician program, or licensed practical nursing program, plus one year of experience as a pharmacy technician; or two years of experience in providing nursing or direct patient care in a medical setting.
College coursework in pharmacy, nursing, or other medical related field can substitute at the rate of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours for the required work experience.
